Thanks to generous contributions from a large number of funds, the Rijksmuseum has been able to acquire a group of 46 watercolours by the 19th-century artist Josephus Augustus Knip. The Rijksmuseum is presenting these spectacular, large-format drawings for the first time this summer in the new exhibition wing. J.A. Knip: Watercolours of Italy is on display from 5 June to 21 September 2015. The ensemble of watercolours by J.A. Knip (1777-1847) was acquired in 2014 from the collection assembled by I.Q. van Regteren Altena (1899-1980).
