Robert Chartoff, an Oscar-winning producer of widely acclaimed films including American classics ‘Raging Bull,’ ‘Rocky’ and ‘The Right Stuff,’ died Wednesday at the age of 81, CNN reported quoting his daughters. Chartoff worked on the numerous ‘Rocky’ movies that featured Sylvester Stallone in against-all-odds fights. He also produced Martin Scorsese’s black and white ‘Raging Bull,’ a biopic that starred Robert De Niro as mercurial boxer Jake LaMotta, for which he won an Oscar for Best Actor. Chartoff won an Oscar for Best Picture for ‘Rocky’ and was nominated for ‘Raging Bull’ and 1983 space program film ‘The Right Stuff.’ He was listed by the Internet Movie Database as being involved in producing the latest iteration of the ‘Rocky’ series, ‘Creed.’
