Headlining the June 16 Voices of the 20th Century Sale at Bonhams will be a unique plaster bust of the late John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. It is estimated at $200,000 300,000. The bust is an original plaster maquette of President Kennedy, created by Felix de Weldon, best known as the creator of the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial depicting the historic raising of the American flag at Iwo Jima. De Weldon was a prolific and important sculptor in the post-war period, who completed busts of some of the most important figures of the day. His busts of Truman in 1946, and earlier in England in the late 1930s, George V, George VI, and Edward VIII brought him to the attention of Jacqueline Kennedy when she was looking for a sculptor to create the official bust of John F.
